Abstrak

ABSTRACT

 

The formation of students’ character and moral integrity has become an increasingly urgent concern in contemporary education. Christian Religious Education (CRE) provides a distinctive framework grounded in biblical theology and historic Christian thought. From a Reformed perspective, character formation is not merely moral instruction but the transformation of the whole person in relation to God (Calvin 1960; Bavinck 2003). This study examines the role of CRE in shaping students’ character through a qualitative theological and pedagogical approach. The findings suggest that effective formation requires an integration of Scripture, spiritual formation, moral practice, and relational mentorship (Knight 2006; Holmes 1987). The study proposes an integrated model rooted in both educational theory and Reformed theology. Ultimately, CRE aims to form students who reflect Christ-like character through both inner transformation and outward practice (Smith 2009; Palmer 1998). This study contributes an original biblical–theological–pedagogical integrative model for understanding Christian Religious Education as a holistic process of character and moral formation.

ABSTRAK

Pembentukan karakter dan integritas moral siswa telah menjadi perhatian yang semakin mendesak dalam pendidikan kontemporer. Pendidikan Agama Kristen (PAK) menyediakan kerangka yang khas yang berakar pada teologi biblika dan pemikiran Kristen historis. Dalam perspektif kekristenan, pembentukan karakter bukan sekadar pengajaran moral, melainkan transformasi seluruh pribadi dalam relasinya dengan Allah (Calvin 1960; Bavinck 2003). Penelitian ini mengkaji peran PAK dalam membentuk karakter siswa melalui pendekatan teologis dan pedagogis kualitatif. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembentukan yang efektif memerlukan integrasi antara Kitab Suci, pembinaan spiritual, praktik moral, dan pendampingan relasional (Knight 2006; Holmes 1987). Penelitian ini mengusulkan suatu model integratif yang berakar pada teori pendidikan dan teologi Kristen. Pada akhirnya, PAK bertujuan membentuk siswa yang mencerminkan karakter Kristus melalui transformasi batiniah dan praktik hidup yang nyata (Smith 2009; Palmer 1998). Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi orisinal berupa model integratif biblika–teologis–pedagogis dalam memahami Pendidikan Agama Kristen sebagai proses holistik pembentukan karakter dan moralitas siswa.
